…up to 200,000 people angry with high costs and poor public services took to the streets. Protesters in Rio de Janeiro burned cars and looted buildings as police attempted to disperse them with teargas and rubber bullets. Aerial images showed thousands of people attempting to storm the congress building in Brasilia. The rallies…are some of the biggest ever seen in the country…

more.

What the…what an extremely inaccurate portrayal of what is happening right now.

No. 1: The protests are starting to reach its conclusion since we achieved our first goal; which is the reduction of passage fee for public transportation. There are some remaining protests scheduled by the end of this week, but since we don’t have a strong leadership and tangible proposals to move forward, I can see that the protests will disperse over time.

No. 2: At first, the policemen really acted aggressively towards the people in this situation. But that was last week. After being heavily criticized on the news, from the brazilian society and at last, from the politicians themselves, they have taken a milder stance. Actually, several policemen even JOINED the cause, placing banners on the streets about this protests, some just stood without attacking, others even sat together with the leaders of this protests.

No. 3: They made it sound like the riot was extremely violent and people are going berserk and destroying everything it’s on their way. THAT’S. COMPLETELY. UNTRUE. All the protests had the full intention of being peaceful protests, most of them discouraged anyone who wanted to retaliate or complain, throwing stones and etc. Yes, there are several cases that people burned cars (btw, it occurred in São Paulo, not Rio de Janeiro), but those are isolated cases, since in every big event such as this, it’s bound to have bad apples here and there.

Btw, the aerial images in 1:02 are from São Paulo, not Brasilia you twerp. And we didn’t storm like crazed bull horns towards the congress building in Brasilia, as I said, they wanted a non-violent protest over there.

Should I even mention that after more than 2 weeks of long protests all over the country, we only had ONE death?

LOL, police being criticized by using tear gas and rubber bullets, those criticism happened like, last friday? June 10th?

Fucking update correctly those news and stop painting those protests in a bad light, this pisses me off.
